This month I had the experience to be a featured RAW Artist for the San Antonio Pixels event at the Backstage Live venue. What a cool experience. Lots of creative artists were there showing their work which ranged from Painting, Street Art, Body Art, Hair, Food, Music, Fire Dancing...and much more. If there is a RAW event in your city, I encourage you to go.
Even though I was a featured artist, it was too hard not to pick up my camera, shoot and share a few images. Honored to be a RAW Artist and showcase some of what I do.
Over 50 models came to the Austin Fashion Week Casting Call sponsored by Butterfly Entertainment at the Lanai Rooftop Lounge in Austin. There was a great turnout at this event with lots of new contacts for fashion and modeling. Below are a few of my favorite photos from the night. I'm looking forward to shoots with many of these models in the future...in fact, working with a few on an upcoming shoot with Southern Hippie in Georgetown.
Last weekend I had the opportunity to shoot an event in San Antonio called "For the Love of Kids and Harleys." It is an annual event and 18 years running. The guest auctioneer for this year was Joe Nichols. The auction was followed by a live acoustic set. Great night for a great cause!
Last night was the Bliss Bridal Magazine launch! So excited to have been a part of this issue. Looking forward to more staff and style shoots in the future...already planning the Fall issue staff photos.
This past weekend I was asked to shoot at a Rogue Trail Series race. This was a first for me. I arrived at 6AM to get to the location on the trail and setup lighting gear. The race kicked off at 7AM and I shot till 10AM. In the midst of the runners, there were a few trail bike riders that came through as well.
The first image below is the lighting setup that I was using. The main light was an Alien Bee 800 and the rim light/secondary light was a canon 580 EX II. Both lights were set pretty low (at 1/32 power) so as to allow ambient light in and accentuate the subject. As a side note, both lights were bare...no modifiers.
The camera setting were: Canon 7D, 16-35mm lens, 1/250th, f5.6, ISO 400 and flash white balance. The next few images were shot with this setup on the trail. I was really surprised by the last shot of the runner really getting into the race.
Last year I had the honor of covering the Luling auction hosted by the Luling Foundation and published the photos and story in a previous post. This year I was back at the Luling auction but from a different perspective. I was literally "in the trenches." Thanks to the Lawlis family for this opportunity.
We have been long time customers of Breeze Salon and Day Spa in Georgetown. The girls and guys here have become like family to us. Over the years I've shot family portraits, birthday parties, fashion shows and Christmas parties for Breeze. This years's party was extra special as they announced a new logo and a new location in Round Rock. Here's to a great 2012!
